Nacho Mama's Mexican Grill - Cinco De Mama
By adding a twist to the regular Cinco de Mayo celebrations, Nacho Mama's celebrates Cinco de Mama with live music, drinks, and outdoor parties. Design the Planet developed a countdown to Cinco de Mama campaign to create anticipation for the festive event. Well-branded advertising added just the right sizzle to make this event a success, and helped increase sales by 30% over 2010.
Mojito's Rum Bar & Grill
Mojitos Rum Bar & Grill delivers a laid-back vibe with great music, food, and exotic rums. The restaurant needed a professionally created identity to mark it as the place-to-be for more than just another dinner out. Its Creole-Caribbean cuisine delights the palette, but its real draw is found in the drinks offered on their patio, which is regularly filled with live local music. To capture the essence of all of this, the look of its ads and website needed to represent the tropical atmosphere the restaurant exudes.
The Barley Oak Logo
The Barley Oak was conceived as an Old World style pub that offers hundreds of craft and micro-brew beers, pub-style food, and a wonderful view from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. The identity design was developed to be consistent with the European experience the pub provides for patrons with Southern-style charm. It evokes the rich heritage of old-world brewers and the establishments that welcomed patrons to partake of the craft, and it conveys a sense of neighborly welcome consistent with the owner's vision.
The Barley Oak Brand
Design The Planet developed a brand community engagement strategy to help The Barley Oak engage and encourage its patrons to try new beer with the beer passport, menu, POS collateral, and web-based communications. Customers get stamps in their passport for each country's beer they enjoy. Strategic branding is carried out on the pub's website, glasses/mugs, staff uniforms, the elegant menu and bar coasters.
Dots Website
Dots Diner is a New Orleans icon and is know for their "Not You Mama..." radio commercials (which you can play on the website). The website has the look as if Dot made it herself and encourages visitors to sign up for email announcements, check daily specials and to "connect" with Dot via social media.
The Kask Club Passport
The passport is a tracking system for The Barley Oak's Kask Club rewards program where patrons get stamps for each country's beer that they drink. The passport encourages the pub's customers to try beers from around the world and promotes The Barley Oak's vast beer selection. The passport was featured in Print Magazine's Southern Region Design Annual in 2010 for it's originality, design, and usage.
Jerk's Website Evolution
Jerks Island Grill is a new concept restaurant based on the "Perfect Island Experience". The Jerk's branding was designed intentionally to look "haphazardly put together" to give it an authentic rustic island feel and to immerse customers in the Jerk's experience. Design The Planet recommended and developed a three-phase website and published it in stages (these included a simple holding page, then a small website to inform the community about the new restaurant and to encourage job applications, and once the restaurant was open, an interactive Flash experience) to create and engage the brand community prior to opening. The intention was to make the restaurant successful starting on its very first day, while building momentum to carry it forward. It worked!
Jerk's Island Grill Brand
The Jerk's Island Grill brand delivers the island experience through its festive architecture, relaxed atmosphere, and menu items that exceed expectations. When you visit Jerk's you will experience a fun yet elegant food menu, creative signature drink menu, and even the Little Jerk's kids menu. Jerk's avatar, Iggy, can be found lazy-lounging on custom-designed glasses, staff uniforms, emails, billboards, and even hidden in hard to find locales. After all, he's the Jerk's mascot.
Scooter's Chicken Brand
Scooters Chicken is a new quick service family restaurant with multiple locations in the New Orleans area. Design the Planet developed the look-and-feel of the company through the company's website, kid's meal bag & cup, tray liners, mascot/avatar, and point of sale materials. Our overall branding goal was to create a "national-chain" look for the upstart, local company.
Lucy's Retired Surfers Brand
Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar & Restaurant is a unique place full of surfer inspired décor and drinks, including the Shark Attack sporting a rubber toy shark. Known for the impromptu party, Lucy's attracts a corps of regulars and is a compelling stop for passers-by. The fun and camaraderie of the bar & restaurant is carried into the revamped brand and communication materials, including new website, email marketing, menu design, and campaigns for Lucy's impromptu and signature events – Zinco de Mayo, the Lucy's Lu-wow, and Halloween. Design The Planet worked with and advised management on brand consistency, cross-channel delivery, brand community engagement, and event branding.
Pat O'Brien's Website
Pat O'Brien's Bar is an internationally renowned establishment located in the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter, and in other festive locations around the world. The goal of the website redesign was to capture the bar's legacy and spirit, while showcasing the online store and dramatically improving the ease of navigating the site. The design engaged Pat O's online community through email, Flickr photo sharing, a Facebook profile, and other social-media marketing techniques. Rick's Cabaret Website
The legendary Rick's Cabaret on Bourbon Street now has a website. Rick, the founder, discusses the things he deems important-Style, Travel, Sports, and of course, beautiful women. Customers can connect with Rick's via Twitter and Facebook and experience the world as Rick sees it through his blog.
Daiquiris & Company Campaign
Daiquiris & Company is a fun, lively group of daiquiris shop locations across Southeast Louisiana. The company wanted to develop a fun website experience to encourages visitors to learn more about the company's locations, drinks, and on-going events. The website is designed as a game of clue-following 5 drink-based characters developed for their best selling drinks, and connects customers through Facebook, Twitter & email marketing.
Daiquiris & Company Before/After
This locally owned daiquiri bar with numerous locations throughout Southeast Louisiana needed to enhance and update their look with a new identity that reflected the spirited nature of the business. The company's new business cards even have the texture of the daiquiris' signature styrofoam cups, even though its just paper.
The Dungeon Website
The Original Dungeon is an iconic institution in New Orleans' French Quarter complete with skull bar, coffins, torture chamber dance-cages, and hidden bathroom in the library. The website reflects the bar's legendary atmosphere and hard-rocking style while telling the story of the bar's origins. The site spotlights the Dungeon's signature drinks and famous events like their Halloween costume contest. Regularly mentioned on Halloween travel specials as a must see in New Orleans, the Dungeon's site is vital to their communications with would-be visitors from across the globe. Enter if you dare!
